Vierne's program note from his organ recital at Westminster Cathedral, London, January 3, 1924, states that "The Carillon was written on a theme of the chime rung on the bells of the Chapel attached to the Castle of Longpont (Aisne) that played this tune on the Patronal Festival of the Castle, the [feast] day of St. John of Montmorail."Cite error: Closing </ref> missing for <ref> tag
