Synopsis

Flemish composer, organist, a teacher

  • Born in Zaandam, Belgium on August 30, 1927
  • He got his first music lessons from his father Cor Kee (organist and composer)
  • Studied the organ with Anthon van der Horst at the Amsterdam Conservatory
  • 1948 graduated from the Amsterdam Conservatory
  • 1953 got the Prix d'excellence
  • Won first prize at the Haarlem International Improvisation Competition three times
  • 1952-1987 organist at the Laurenskerk in Alkmaar
  • 1956-1989 organist at St Bavo, Haarlem
  • 1954-1988 taught at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amersterdam
  • He has tutored at the International Summer Academy for organists in Haarlem. He also has given masterclasses and juried for festivals.
  • 1972 became a Knight of Orange-Nassau
  • 1987 became an honorary FRCO [1]

He has written many organ works and a suite for carillon. He also has written pieces with organ in ensemble such as Music and Space (1969), Confrontation (1979), Integration (1980), and Network (1996) [2]
