Background and General Perspectives

"This charming Demonstrator is in the form of a narration of a folktale interspersed with six movements for organ, all utilizing what appears to be a Chinese folk song. Included are five lovely illustrations by Margaret J. Benton that can be projected
on a screen. Chen's original music is utterly irresistible, and this work could be performed as part of a recital. It is so completely different from anything your audiences have experienced that it cannot help but be arresting."[1]
