==Background==
"Vierne played in Hinckley, England, at St. Mary's Church on May 3, 1925.  The carillon in the bell tower played every three hours throughout the night and reportedly kept Vierne awake.  Having memorized the tune, he later composed ''Les Cloches de Hinckley.''  Two interesting features are the descending E-major pedal scale in eighth notes played twenty-eight times in succession and the rarely used ffff marking at the end."<ref>Smith, Rollin.
