- 1951 appointed lecturer at the Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff
- 1953 won the Walford Davies composition prize
- 1967 became a professor of music at Cardiff
- 1987 retired
- Composed till his death
- Died in Swansea on March 12, 2008
