Synopsis

Matthias Weckmann (before 1619-1674) was a German Baroque organist and composer. He studied with Schütz, Scheidemann, and Jacob Praetorius. In 1655 he auditioned for and obtained the post of organist at Hamburg's Jacobikirche.[1]
