Background
These 46 short chorales were composed while he was court organist at the ducal court in Weimar (1708–1714).

Organs and Registration
For a meditative interpretation: 8', 8'/4', or 8'/4'/2' flutes or German Baroque string stops, with balanced pedal built on a 16' foundation. For a grander interpretation use some sort of plenum (principals 8' through 2' or chorus mixture).[1]
