  • Low mass - "On Sundays and feast days it was customary to have the organ play during at least one of the low masses, essentially to relieve the tedium of a full church sitting in silence for half an hour. It was permissible for organ music to be played throughout the Low Mass, stopping only for the sermon."[1]
