Willy Burkhard

Synopsis

Swiss composer, organist, and teacher

• Born Evilard-sur-Bienne,Switzerland on April 17, 1900
• 1916-20 Studied music at the Conservatory in Berne
• 1924 taught composition, theory and piano in Berne
• 1928 appointed to the conservatory
• 1942 moved to Zurich and taught at the conservatory there.
• 1950 recieved the composer's prize of the Schweizerischer Tonkunstlerverein.
• Died inn Zurich, Switzerland on June 18, 1955

Started out in the late romantic style, but then turned to more neo baroque models. Organ trio Sonatas op. 18 (1927).
