Background

Scherzando is a thin textured piece that is four-and-a-half pages long, with both hands are played on the same manual for two-thirds of it.

Registration and Organs

Swell: Principals 8' and 4', Cymbale

Great: Stopped diapason 8', Principal 4'

Choir: Stopped diapason 8', Nazard, Piccolo 1'

Pedal: Bourdon 16' and 8'

The clarinet is added to the choir and taken back off a couple of times.

Fingering and Pedaling

There is very limited pedaling in this piece. It begins with no pedals and then has a few pedals here and there throughout the remainder of the work.

Articulation and Phrasing

Play with a light, staccato articulation.
