Synopsis

Austrian composer and organist

  • 15 Sep 1923, born in Vienna
  • Vienna, trained in church music by Wilhelm Mück, organist at St. Stephen's Cathedral
  • 1941-45, Vienna, studied at Vienna Academy of Music with Bruno Seidlhofer (organ) and Friedrich Reidinger (composition)
  • 1945, Vienna, appointed organ teacher at Vienna Academy of Music
  • 1952, Haarlem, won International Organ Competition in Improvisation
  • 1957-79, Vienna, became professor at Vienna Academy of Music
  • 25 Mar 1979, died in Vienna

He is known for his settings of Ecce lignum crucis andSalve regina, along with his Second sonata.
