Concerto for organ, 2 trumpets, and 2 trombones

This work utilizes 20th century polytonality, highly varied and interesting rhythms, and many chromatic passages.

Andante con moto deciso: The first movement uses repetition and imitation, and is highly rhythmic and in the style of a brass fanfare, with a brief intermediate section that is slightly more meditative. It uses an octatonic scale. Lockwood utilizes much repetition, especially rhythmic repetition, but not recapitulation.

Larghetto: The second movement is meditative and in the form of a passacaglia, with a repeating chromatic descending pedal line in the organ.

Allegro: The final movement begins with a sweeping, fantasia like opening, which is followed by a rhythmic section, then recapitulates to the fantasia. This is followed by a gentler section characterized by ostinato-like chromatic triplets in the organ coupled with nearly tonal harmonies in the brass, which ends the piece.
