Background

"In Sweetest Rejoicing," commonly sung as "Good Christian Men, Rejoicing," is a traditional carol. The melody is played in the left hand with a lyrical descant singing above it. 
The Pedal contains a slow moving melodic fragment of the hymn tune "Vom Himmel hoch."[1]

Fingering and Pedaling

The pedal notes consist of half and dotted-half notes that generally move by step or small interval, with a rest between each pedal note.
