Welcome to the Organ Playing Wiki
An open forum about classical organ performance

This site is a forum for performance suggestions on specific organ pieces or collections. Helpful suggestions are welcome from anyone. These are collected and displayed either as "articles" or "discussions":

  • Articles are more formal presentations listed under specific performance categories (registration, tempo and meter, articulation and phrasing, etc.)
  • Discussions ("talk" pages) are more conversational statements about anything related to the piece or collection being discussed.

Musical performance places value on the intent of both the composer and the performer, as well as many other factors. Citations and links to primary sources, online resources, personal opinions and tastes, and uploaded documents are all welcome as long as they pertain to the topic. Any information that might be helpful to an organist in the performance of the piece or collection is welcome.

Editing conventions on ARTICLES

Having discussions on a free-form wiki page will seem strange at first. It helps if everyone follows some simple editing conventions:

  • Be sure that your comment appears under the appropriate subheading in the article. For example, place comments on stop choice under "Registration." If needed, add a new heading.
  • Always sign your name after your comments. Use the four tildes “~~~~” wiki syntax (or the signature button signature button in the toolbar above the editing textbox). For more information see Help:Signatures.

Editing conventions on TALK PAGES

Having discussions on a free-form wiki page will seem strange at first. It helps if everyone follows some simple editing conventions:

  • Always sign your name after your comments. Use the four tildes “~~~~” wiki syntax (or the signature button signature button in the toolbar above the editing textbox). For more information see Help:Signatures.
  • Start a new discussion with a ==level 2 heading== at the bottom of the page (or use the “+” tab)
  • Indent replies with colons (:) at the beginning of the line.

For an example and more information about how to use the discussion ("talk") pages, visit this link.

Consult the User's Guide for information on using the wiki software.
