  • Born in 1926 in Salt Lake City, UT
  • Studied with Alexander Schreiner
  • He Got his BFA, MFA, and PhD in Music composition
  • Studied with Leroy J. Robertson after WWII
  • 1957 Taught at Brigham Young University
  • 1962 served as organist at the Hyde Park Chapel in London, England
  • Served as an organist for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir for 27 years.

He has composed two hymns, That Easter Morn and Thy Holy Word. He has written many solo pieces for organ and hymn arrangements, including Tridludes, Notes of Praise, Sonatina (his most popular organ work currently), and Recessional. He has written the oratorio Redeemer. His philosophy on composition is that a work must be accessible on the first hearing.
