Douglas Bush

Synopsis

American composer, organist, and teacher

• 1947 born in western Montana, USA.
• 1972, Provo, UT, received his bachelor's degree in music performance from Brigham Young University
• 1974, Provo, received his master's degree in music from Brigham Young University
• 1982, Austin, received his PhD in musicology from University of Texas at Austin
• 1978-2013, Provo, professor of organ at Brigham Young University
• 2006, published an encyclopedia on the organ with Routledge Press
• 2013 died in Provo, Utah.

His music shows his great admiration and knowledge of Bach in his excellent use of counterpoint, although he employs some chromatic harmonies. One of his most beautiful pieces is his arrangement of Heavenly Father Loves Me.
