You Will Sing the Sacrifice of Our Lord, Jesus Christ "is built on ascending fourths, a sort of tone-painting used by Dupré to depict suffering and which he used in three movements of Le Chemin de la Croix."

The ascending fourths can be seen in the cantus firmus of Chemin de la Croix: Nos. 2, 11 (inverted), and 14.
