from Dans la Gloire des Invalides by Marcel Dupré

Background

You Will Sing the Sacrifice of Our Lord, Jesus Christ "is built on ascending fourths, a sort of tone-painting used by Dupré to depict suffering and which he used in three movements of Le Chemin de la Croix."[1]

The ascending fourths can be seen in the cantus firmus of Chemin de la Croix: Nos. 2, 11 (inverted), and 14.[2]
